National Cadet Corps.

I have been in NCC for 5 years. Since secondary 1 all the way to secondary 5. It wasn't something that i wanted at first. Being sporty, i wanted to join the netball team back in my secondary school. But barely with any luck, i only manage to join the uniform group. I was a little doubtful at first but looking back, i am happy i've made this far. Felt like i've accomplished alot by joining the uniformed groups, no doubt. I was a private in secondary one, lance corporal in secondary two, corporal then third sergeant in secondary three, staff sergeant in secondary four and proceeded to master sergeant in secondary four as well. Being the highest rank in NCC, and second overall in charge, i had alot of responsibilities. I had to assure that my fellow peers and cadets would following the instructions accordingly. As you know, eventhough you're of a high ranker, not many would respect you. But in my perspective, whoever you are, if you respect me, i would respect you. Doesn't matter your rank or how your standard is. Because having that basic respect and courtesy is important.

In secondary 3, i was priviliged as i was selected to represent the school and Singapore for the Interantional Cadet Corps USA (ICEP USA for short). Out of the 80 cadets participated, i was one of them who was chosen. It wasn't easy as i had to go for an interview with the Major of NCC stating why he should choose me and what can i offer if i were to be choosen. But thankfully, i manage to put off a good first impression, which allowed me to participate in the event. Knowing that i am in a uniformed group, i have to commit to alot of things. Even though i may be busy with my CCA, I still had to ensure my NAPFA, my conduct and my studies were good as well. Being in NCC, it allows you to make alot of friends from different schools and different districts. It enables you to have a strong and good relationship with all the other cadets. And this is one of the many reason why i never regretted joining NCC. It was a pleasure and honour to serve the NCC for five years now. My time has come, and somebody else have to take over me.
